About Northern Lights
Northern Lights is the official community blog of North Star International. It was created by several established bloggers who are believing members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and who have first-hand experience with issues surrounding homosexuality. Northern Lights is to be a place where we and our readers can openly explore and discuss topics and issues of interest to the LDS community—and particularly as they relate to homosexuality and Mormon faith and culture—in an edifying and uplifting manner and within the framework of commitment to the beliefs and ideals of the Church. >>MORESubscribe to the Blog

Addiction: The Eye of the Hurricane
This image of Hurricane Wilma was taken by the crew aboard NASA’s international space station as the complex flew 222 miles above the storm. Wilma’s eye was two miles across at the time, the smallest eye ever observed, indicating an … Continue reading
I have a very hard time telling you about my addiction, but I think it’s important
Probably the greatest embarrassment I can put myself into is to open up to you, my dear Northern Lights reader, about my addiction to masturbation prior to joining the church. I am hesitant to write about it for several reasons. … Continue reading
Sacred Space: My New Perspective on SSA and the Temple
I have spent time as a youth in Hawaii, and had visited the Cities of Refuge, and in Arizona an ancient Native American sacred site both of which had similar symbolism as I have seen in the Holy Temple. Yet, … Continue reading

My wife and I sometimes watch “Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?” Sometimes we are amazed at how non-smart some of the contestants are, like not knowing what a noun is. Other times, we are amazed at how smart … Continue reading
