Supportive fellowship and friendship with others who share your values and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ is a valuable spiritual tool. Within North Star, we consider that sense of community and fellowship to be one of our key values. We like to provide ways to build such positive friendships and to create a community where individuals will find joy in the gospel, help one another more fully understand and apply the atonement in their lives, share their experiences and challenges without shame or fear, and discover ways to contribute their unique gifts and talents to the work of the Lord.
To help do this, there are a number of online forums and other events North Star sponsors that we hope can help you connect with others who share your values and can be a support to you in your efforts to live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

WOW Wives’ ConferenceWhile this event is specifically for the wives of men who experience same-sex attraction, we’re listing it here as a reference for married men who may be looking for resources for their wives. The Women of Worth (WOW) Wives’ Conference was started by a group of ladies in the Spouses online discussion group who wanted more resources for the wives of men who experience same-gender attraction. Taking initiative, they created this conference retreat that has become a wonderful–and healing–success story of what a group of empowered individuals can to when they take responsibility for their own growth and healing. Initially not sponsored by North Star, after the success of its first year, North Star became the official sponsor. |
Events Sponsored by Other Individuals or Groups
In addition to activities and events sponsored by North Star, we provide a list of events sponsored by other individuals or groups we have reason to believe to be in general harmony with the mission of North Star and the values and standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The following are events that some men in the North Star have found to be helpful, and which would be inclusive of married men and women:

A Wife’s Healing JourneyWhile this event is specifically for the wives of men who experience same-sex attraction, we’re listing it here as a reference for married men who may be looking for resources for their wives. From the website: “This powerful weekend retreat is designed especially for wives of men who struggle with same-sex attraction (SSA). You don’t have to go through this alone any more! Experiential in nature, this weekend retreat addresses many of the hurtful issues associated with being married to a man with SSA. This weekend is for women who are committed to their marriage and to their own personal growth — and who are ready to experience breakthrough emotional shifts and insights” (emphasis in original). |
