Northern Lights, a blog1 sponsored by North Star, is a public forum where we and our readers can openly explore and discuss topics and issues relating to homosexuality and the Church in an edifying and uplifting manner and within the framework of commitment to the beliefs and ideals of the Church.

Unlike the North Star Online Discussion Groups, which are members-only, password-protected e-mail groups, Northern Lights is a more public forum where anyone can view messages and participate through comments.

NOTE: Though sponsored by North Star, and every effort is made to ensure blog contributions are in harmony with the mission and purpose of North Star, Northern Lights is its own entity, and all views expressed and errors made are the sole responsibility of blog contributors. In addition, each blog post is open to the public for comment and discussion and, within the parameters established in our Comment Policy, those of different perspectives, backgrounds, and belief systems are allowed to participate.

1 The term "blog" comes from blending the words "Web" and "log" (Web-log). They consist of a series of articles or entries written by blog authors along with comments from visitors, similar to a newspaper editorial. A blog generally provides commentary or news on a particular subject, such as current events, philosophy, politics, or local news; some function more as personal online journals or diaries.
